Hi, I'm Mike.

I make dangerous changes boring.

I work on a globally distributed NoSQL database cloud service. My work has included scaling it from 30 regions to 100+ and building the deployment safety, configuration governance, and automation that underpinned that growth.

Before that, I did SRE work for operations across 20+ countries. One zero-downtime migration cut database costs and improved response times.

Before that, I spent 11 years co-founding a boutique software consultancy and shipping enterprise production systems. The people who built them also had to support them. That changes how you design systems.

I write about distributed systems, automation, migrations, structural risk, and the decisions that keep systems reliable as they scale.
