I'm Miguel Garcia. Most people call me Mike.

I make dangerous changes boring.

I work on a globally distributed NoSQL database cloud service, where I set the deployment and configuration standards the fleet runs on. That work carried the service from 30 regions to 100+, with the deployment safety, configuration governance, and automation the growth depended on, and the runbooks that let teams run the service without me.

Before that, I did SRE work for operations across 20+ countries and led an operations team's shift to engineering practice: version control, code review, tests, and a delivery pipeline that became the default path to production. One zero-downtime migration along the way cut database costs and improved response times.

Before that, I co-founded and ran a software consultancy for 11 years: architecture and operations, but also pricing, contracts, and the books. Fifteen enterprise systems, funded by customer revenue alone. The people who built them also had to support them, which changes how you design systems. I wound the firm down with zero debt, every client commitment honored, and the copyright to everything we shipped still ours.
